Gabriel is originally from Campina Grande, Brazil, where he received his BS degree with honors and MS in Animal Science from the Federal University of Paraíba. Earned a Ph.D. in Animal Science from the Federal University of Viçosa, with a one-year visiting scholar period at the University of Wisconsin. Cruz is mentored by Heather White from the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences and intends to analyze the effects of individual or combined feed additives fed to lactating cows and potentially to transition cows. The goal of this research is to better understand how these additives influence postpartum milk production, metabolism, and biomarkers in dairy cows.
