Cindy is the lab manager for the Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) Laboratory in the Meat Science and Animal Biologics Discovery Building. In her role as lab manager, she works with meat companies to design and perform microbiological studies to help them ensure they are making safe meat products and also provides guidance to graduate students conducting food safety research in the BSL2.
Cindy graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s degree in Bacteriology and from University of Georgia-Athens with a Master’s degree in Food Science.
After graduating from UGA she worked for Oscar Mayer in their Corporate Food Safety Department for almost 17 years. After Oscar Mayer closed their Madison corporate headquarters in 2016 she worked for AFCO (a chemical sanitation company) for four years before coming to UW-Madison in July of 2020.
