The 80-year old bronze sculpture of William Dempster Hoard, 1836-1918, on Henry Mall in front of Agricultural Hall during winter. Hoard, credited with introducing the modern dairy industry to Wisconsin, was elected state governor in 1888, and served as chairman of the UW Board of Regents. The statue was created by Gutzon Borglum, designer of the Mt. Rushmore memorial.
