Why did you decide to attend UW-Madison?
UW has been my dream school since I was young. My family and I have always been huge badger fans and we used to see the UW band at a local festival. Once I got older and found out they have an animal science degree, I was completely set on being in Madison for college.
What has been your most memorable college experience?
One of my most memorable college experiences was traveling to Colorado my freshman year with Saddle and Sirloin Club. We went to the National Western Stock Show which was my first livestock show in my entire life! It was such an amazing trip filled with learning, laughs, and super awesome people that I’m still friends with now!
What has been your favorite course?
My favorite course was Equine Reproductive Management. The class was so hands on, and still being in the thick of COVID it was one of my first classes back in person. Having the experience of actually working with horses while learning was extremely fun. We were able to do everything from reproductive soundness exams, to AI, to actually collecting semen from our stallion. I would take the class again in a heartbeat and recommend it for anyone looking into veterinary medicine for their future!
What are your future career goals?
My current goal is being accepted into veterinary school, but for the distant future my goal is to be either a large animal or equine vet.
