Dr. Laura Hernandez
Dr. Hernandez’s lab studies calcium and serotonin metabolism and the mammary gland’s role in their regulation. My research is primarily focused on the relationship between serotonin and calcium during lactation and how pertubations in each may alter lactation and metabolism. This applies to dairy cows by aiding in elucidating the etiology of hypocalcemia and understanding serotonin’s potential as a therapeutic mitigation strategy for this disease.
