Research Area
My research focuses on the utilization of different protein sources in diets fed to Holstein dairy cows. In our current experiment, we are observing how high producing Holstein dairy cows perform during the transition period and early lactation when fed diets formulated with either soybean meal or canola meal. We use a wide variety of sampling techniques (blood sampling, feces and urine collection, and liver and mammary gland biopsies) to better understand how these protein sources affect milk production and physiology.
